Most of Barry’s working life was spent in the retail industry at national and at local level, having run a family business for 30 years. Barry served as a Non-executive Director of the Barnsley Building Society for more than 20 years and as chairman on two occasions; the latter term for four years prior to the Society’s merger with the Yorkshire Building Society. Barry was appointed a Deputy Lord Lieutenant for South Yorkshire in 2009. Barry now works extensively with local and international charities and is Northern Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, for whom he has worked abroad on four continents over a period of ten years.

Born in Higham and educated in Barnsley John, now semi-retired, has been fortunate to have enjoyed a successful and varied career in management. A young mining engineer and graduate of the Henley Management College, he became CEO of his company at 30 and went on to develop a reputation in the international mining industry. Mainly from his base in Johannesburg John was Executive Chairman of a quarted International mining company and served as a director of many companies and development committees. John and his family returned to the UK in the early nineties. Following a short but serious illness he changed his professional lifestyle and accepted an opportunity to join the Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre for a short time, which lasted for thirteen years during which he was directly involved in establishing more than fifty companies and the education and training of young staff.

Frank is a Barrister-at-Law (non practicing). Now retired, Frank was previously Chief Verifier and Member of the Monitoring and Verification Board of the National Training Strategy for Town and Parish Councils; Clerk to Cawthorne Parish Council; Member and Chair of the independent Education Appeals Tribunal; and lay member of the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council’s Audit Committee. He has previously served as Chairman of Barnsley and District Citizen’s Advice Bureau and as a Non-Executive Director on the Trust Board of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and is a former Chair of Barnsley College.
Josie Teasdale MBE
Retired Headteacher and founding CEO of Wellspring Academy Trust; qualified Ofsted Inspector and former Chair of Barnsley College
Josie was the founding CEO of Wellspring Academy Trust and was formerly Executive Head Teacher of Springwell Special School in Barnsley. Josie was also Head of Borough-wide services for behaviour and in-school support and guidance, being involved nationally and regionally with programmes and initiatives that target challenging behaviours. She is a qualified Ofsted Inspector. Josie served as a Governor of Barnsley College from 2007 to 2015 and was elected Chair of the College Trust Board in 2012.

Hearl is a Chartered Surveyor who is Senior Partner in Holroyd Miller, a firm of Chartered Surveyors based in Wakefield and Dewsbury but who practice throughout West Yorkshire and the North of England. Educated at Silcoates School in Wakefield before joining Holroyd Sons & Pickersgill Chartered Surveyors as a Trainee in 1971 in Dewsbury, Hearl qualified as a Valuer and Auctioneer via The College of Estate Management, part of Reading University and became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2000.
