Children at Littlecoates took part in a sponsored fun fitness circuit hosted by the Team GB athlete James Denny, diving partner of Tom Daley. James visited the school to run workshops about movement as part of the Sports For Schools initiative. The programme promotes the benefit of exercise and fitness to general health and brain function.
The money raised by the pupils will fund new sports equipment for the school, with the rest of the proceeds donated to help support disadvantaged GB Athletes who struggle financially to compete for their country.
Elliot Fulcher, Head Boy, said: ‘‘I have enjoyed all of today. We’ve done press-ups, star jumps and spotty dogs. I did them all quite a few times and I helped to show the younger ones how to do them as well.’’
Vice-Principal Nev Wilkinson said: ‘‘This is inspiring for children and raises aspirations. The children have been so excited all week, there’s been a real buzz in the school and they’ve been practicing. We see certain talents in individuals and as a school we like to encourage those talents. Having James come in is brilliant.’’
